VA: Questions to ask a potential client

It can be really scary to have an interview with a potential client. Like any new relationship, you are both testing the waters, seeing if it is a good fit to move forward. A lot of people think that an initial interview is the time for the client to ask all the questions, but if you’re looking for a truly successful partnership, you are going to want to have some questions of your own as well. Here are some of our top questions that are important to as a potential client before moving forward:

  • What tasks are you looking for a virtual assistant to do?

  • Personal vs work tasks

  • How many hours a week are you looking for? How long do the tasks you are asking the VA to do currently take you?

  • What hours of availability are you looking for?

  • Does the VA's time zone matter?

  • Have you had a VA in the past? If so, what did you like about working one, and what would you have changed?

  • What are your preferred means of communication?

  • How would you describe your work and company mission? Do VA values alignment matter?

  • Are you looking for a long term VA (employee or 1099), or a project based VA?

  • Are you looking for a VA that has a more warm communication style, or a more professional communication style?

  • What tools/technology do you want your VA to already have experience in?

  • What hourly rate are you looking for?
